Gumroad and the Future of Nyte Comics

We knew it was coming, and it finally happend.

Two months back, Gumroad announced they were no longer able to host NSFW content creators due to Stripe and Visa cracking down on their terms of service. When that announcement happened, we knew we'd be on the chopping block. In a way, this warning was a blessing. It gave my team and I the time to grieve, accept, think, and prepare.

Our time with Gumroad is over.

Effective immediately, new comic releases will be paused until further notice.

At some point after June 8th 2024, the following changes will go into affect:

  • Our 300+ library of comics will no longer be available for purchase
  • All memberships and related payments will be immediately suspended
  • Nyte Tokens will no longer be able to be redeemed

My team and I are working hard on our transition to a new platform. We've been exploring long term options (and honestly, finding that the payment industry is hostile to NSFW businesses overall) so we're taking the time to do this right.

Soon after June 8th 2024, the Nyte Comics store as you know and love it will be closed.

Considering that Stripe is used practically everywhere on the internet, that squeeze is being felt ubiquitously. It’s part of a larger war being waged on sexuality and how it is enjoyed on the internet. But that’s not why you’re here. You’re here for some good ol’ fashioned vore, and hopefully some good news among the bad. Well, fear not!

Because this ain’t my first rodeo with being deplatformed.

Those of you who have been following me for most of my career will remember when I was kicked from Patreon. That wasn’t fun at all! As green as I was in all this, I thought it was a death sentence. Little did I know how much of a blessing in disguise it was.

Being booted from Patreon was one of the best things that happened to my business. Thanks to the mix of their a la carte and membership models, we grew 3x within a year and a half. That growth allowed me to do SO many things!

  • I was able to bring Tawny, my incredible colorist, writer, marketer, executive assistant, you name it she does it, on full-time.
  • I was able to hire an absolutely marvelous team of artists who love this job so much.
  • I increased our output FOUR-FOLD! Back on Patreon I was releasing a single comic a month, and now I’ve been bringing you a comic every single week without fail for over 5 years.
  • I got to experiment with audio, bringing some of our coolest pieces to life.
  • And it gave me a truly blessed life. Seriously, making vore art has been so rewarding and it allowed me the time and freedom to live my life as I please and make some really cool shit.

On top of all that, I learned so much about how to run a successful business and be resilient. We’ve had our backs against the wall for the better part of a year now, and we have not faltered. Do things look bad at the moment? Sure! Can I tell you exactly what’s going to happen after this? Not really! Are things going to be difficult for a while? Most likely!

But are things ending because of this? No, they’re not.

Is Nyte Comics going to continue? Yes, it is.

Are there ways you can help it continue? Absolutely.

I don’t know exactly what it’s going to look like, how it’s going to evolve, or what direction we’re going to go in, but I plan on sticking around. It’s okay to not have all the answers. I sure didn’t when I moved to Gumroad! But it all worked out for the better and I suspect this will too.

So, how can you help?

Sign up for our newsletter! This is the easiest way to stay up to date on everything that we’re doing.

Keep an eye out for our SubscribeStar! We’ve already been approved on that platform, and expect it to become our new home. If you’re following via the newsletter, you’ll be the first to know when it’s ready to go. I don’t suspect there will be too much down time -- we still have plenty of comics to share!

Subscribe! Once the SubscribeStar is up and running, make a pledge! Even the littlest help goes a long way.

Consider a commission! I’ve been open for commissions since the beginning of this year (whew that went fast) and they’ve been the most helpful thing in keeping us afloat. Seriously, everyone who has commissioned a piece has been a lifesaver. If you’re interested in a commission by yours truly, drop me a line at nytecommissions@gmail.com and we’ll chat about it! I can help make your idea come to life, which will help me keep the ball rolling.

Donate! If you’re feeling super generous and just want to support us, you can simply donate via Paypal.

Make the best of this closing sale! All the money that we make from this closing sale will make an ENORMOUS difference in making the transition from Gumroad to Subscribestar. We plan to be back up as soon as possible.

I’m not gonna sugarcoat it for you -- this sucks. It’s a tough blow, just like Patreon was. There’s a lot of work ahead for my team and I, and I plan to do my best for all of us. But looking back, Gumroad did so much for us. It has set us up for success in the future. I’d like to think that this step backward will turn into a massive leap forward, just like it did last time. And again, with your help, it’s surefire.

If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a line at nytecomics@gmail.com. While I may not have the answer to every question right now, particularly with those relating to how Gumroad will be handling things like your libraries and your memberships, I’ll answer to the best of my ability.

Once again, follow us on the free newsletter to stay up to date on our next steps. This isn’t goodbye...just a “see you in a little bit.” 🙂

Enjoy the sale, and thank you for everything!
